98 Caldina GTT - Idle

Hey,

My Caldina GTT (auto) seems to idle just above 500rpm lately. I dont recall it idling this low normally. It seems a bit too low, as you get the odd mis sort of sound every now and then, and you can feel its running a bit slow... sort of vibrates. only to a very minor level though.

I was ...

Well you dont have to no.
Just my speakers were the biggest you could fit in the doors without more modifications... it was damn lucky they actually fitted at all, since I had to put a big spacer in and the window only just cleared the magnet... forgot the window went down there... was plesently ...

Hey,

Only thing you have to cut on the door card is the little plastic ring on the inside of the speaker grill. its a support ring of some kind, but its not needed, its only thin plastic. you just run around the base with a knife and it comes off easy as. You dont see anything different from the ...

Thanks for the advice, but I have no desire at all to rebuild something japanese. Not at this stage anyway.

If I am going to do something, it will most likely be a mini. And I am not after it being the cheapest thing I could possibly do - I just dont want to spend thousands and thousands on doing ...

Hey,

Would prefer a round nose one I think, like the Laylands. I am assuming all Laylands are round nose that is.
What is the metro engine exactly? Is Metro a company.... forgive the ignorance, I have never heard of one.

What did you mean by a parts engine aswell...

There are quite a few ...

Yeah - but as I said above:

I dont want anything HARD OUT. Again this is a learning experience. I just want to learn how to do it right, and make the most of what I can get my hands on - without spending thousands and thousands.

That is quite nice though.

Cheers for the pic :)

Wow that is great information, thank you.

So how much are you asking for your electronic dizzy replacement? Does it just produce a better spark or something?

Have you ever done a fuel injection conversion on a mini?

I have definitely caught the mini bug now. A mates dad said the mini bug is ...

Thanks very much - really appreciated.

Minis on trademe are all rather expensive, as alot of them have already been fixed up, and engines done etc.
Really need to find some in a local trader or something - but I havent begun looking really.

So in the minis you have done up, have you changed ...

Well I got my GTT for about $12500 roughly about 6 months ago, its Tiptronic/Auto version, had 94000km on it if I remember correctly.
Manuals were a little bit more expensive.

Just for another comparison.

the way it works is instead of actually disabling the vsc you are faking a steering wheel position sensor malfunction, that causes the vsc to disable itself, while keeping the abs functioning.

By the looks of the Caldina wiring diagram (thanks to Mr Revhead), that wire is the positive wire of a twisted pair to the stearing sensor. From what it looks like (may be incorrect though), by cutting this wire for over a second, causes the same symptoms as having the stearing sensor go into ...

Hey,

Tried this method this afternoon and it works great I used the push button approach, using a normally closed push button. Takes about 2 seconds to disable the VSC now by holding the button ON which cuts the circuit.
PLUS the awesome thing is my alarm has a turbo timer on it, which I have ...

On my old car I had 2 resonators and a straight thru muffler on the back. Had to have 2 resonators as I originally had one with the muffler, but when I changed the exhaust headers it developed a wicked (horrible) rattle at some revs, so I got another one. Sounded like I had a tin can rattling in ...
