I know in the 300ZX, other problems make the rws very very unstable - the fix is replacing the rear steering rack with a purpose made replacement bar, and changing the 4ws solenoid and reservour for the 2ws equivalents.

Jack the car up, put it in neutral, turn 1 wheel by hand - the other wheel should spin the same direction. This works on a rwd - dunno about fwd
