I ran a cheapie for a while, i found if you fill the can and even the inlet\outlets with steel wool, the stuff thats full of holes and is quite thick and abrasive, is enough to catch the oil like a good one with baffles and screens, if you want to save a little cash on a cheap one?

Find an oil thats tinted with colour haha
I get that a lot too, fresh oil in and its impossible to tell unless you wash and dry the stick, dip it, and check it in the riiiight light until a few hunddred km of driving haha
though the only brand I can think of that does coloured oil is Royal Purple ...

Nice score, mate. Its always nice to have OEM parts, even if they just stay under the bench for the time being.

Nothing here in Invercargill, bar a couple of rotten altezza's doing laps with reasonably unsavory people at the wheel

if the knock sensor hears something it doesn't like at the top end and pulls timing it would explain why it falls flat on its face there, My corona will do that from time to time, but that's cause its *actually* pinging and the sensor is doing its job, I just need to run 98 as intended and it is ...

Did a home auto trans service & flush on my prado.
Dropped the pan, cleaned all the crap out, new filter, re attached.
Then disconnected the return pipe from the oil cooler and kept topping up the trans oil and running the engine until it ran clear - 14 Litres later of Toyota Type IV ...
