If you're running higher octane in your car than the manufacturer recommends, advance the timing a few degrees to make use of it, otherwise you'll just lose power and economy. Better yet, plane the head as well

As a rule tho, turbo or very high comp cars with knock sensors should always run as much octane as you can get your hands on. If the ecu doesnt detect any knock, it will let the timing run as advanced as the map will go and give you better power and economy.
