My F*$%^& steering wheel

Postby TruenoBZG » Wed Apr 05, 2006 7:17 pm

Im trying to get my standard steering wheel OFF of my AE111, but it doesnt want to go.

I have a nice new MOMO wheel and bosskit to put on my steering column.

I took off the horn, screws and centre nut holding the standard wheel on, and also the bottom surround, and got out Mr. Hammer and a peice of wood to knock it off.

After around half an hour, Ive decided that Mr Hammer doesnt work. Ive whacked it hard enough to make the whole steering column shudder - nothing. Not even a budge.

Could someone help me with a tool to get this off - without having to bring in Mr. Hacksaw?

Use your head? While pulling on the wheel "headbut" it to get it free. It means you have pressure at the same time as a shock to get it off.

Leave the centre nut on the thread two or three turns, and then jump backwards holding the wheel, ought to get it off and you wont smash yourself in the face in the process :D

Where could I find one of those???

Tried CRC and pulling it, tried brute force, everything that I can with handtools - absolutely nothing. Im scared I'll break something if I keep it up.

I tried it again this morning, with CRC again - and it worked!

Why didnt it do this the other two days when I was trying? Maybe its slowly worked its way off....
