Intercooler help..

Postby RS13 » Sun Jan 29, 2006 9:39 pm

hi guys

I'm after an intercooler, has to be good for around 300hp, and be shaped roughly like:

Image

Does anyone know of any factory cars with something similar? I need it to have both inlet and outlet at the same end, I'm trying to use as little piping as possible, as most fmic setups I've seen have the piping down/across/in front of the motor, basically doubling back on itself.. which I'd imagine would be bad for throttle response/lag.

Any help = much appreciated. Cheers!

MA70 Supra intercoolers are shaped like that, not sure how well they'd flow though...fairly sizable units though.

Yeah, was thinking the same. They're not a bad size cooler for a factory one. What engine is it for?

yes, ma70 ones are like that, if it's for a high-ish power application you could run 2, as some mk3 supra guys do

2 x series 4/5 coolers welded together with custom tanks would easily flow enough for 300HP and could be arranged with in/out like you have above.

I've got a stock 1JZ intercooler from a JZZ30 if you want to try that?

I'll get some pics up tonight when I get home...
