oxy sensor in my cat?

hey own a aw11 mr2 and going to make a straight pipe to replace the cat noticed there is a sensor in the cat im guessing its an oxygen one. Do i need it?or should i just try and put it in the pipe?

It's probably not an O2 sensor, it's more likely to be the cat overheat sensor which you don't need.

yep, just the cat sensor.
could always gutt the cat and bolt back in also.

The O2 sensor on the AW (And I'm guessing most 16v 4AGE's) is at the bottom of the extractors, where it joins the 2 - 1 section

Dont gut it, it sounds like crap.

Get a pipe or resonator welded in, much nicer tone. Oh and its just the heat sensor, just chop it off or earth it out.

need to learn how to weld for automotive class just gona make two flanges and weld a pipe in. then gona exhaust wrap it. Started today

Have you got the $$$ to waste? Wont be cheap, may as well just paint it, heat wrapping the extractors is the only part really worthwhile doing.

my aw's exhaust only has about 1m to wrap wont cost to much. am on the second one as the first rusted through

Check your exhaust manifold isn't cracked around the #4 pipe btw. AW's have a bad habit of doing that for some reason...
