4AGTE problems PLEASE HELP!!!**Edited error codes**

Postby tHE _mEXICAN » Wed Apr 18, 2007 2:42 am

Ive recently converted my ae101 4agze to turbo with Ht18 turbo blue top cams front mount ext. waste gate BOV. I'm using a small port 4age inlet mani, alt PS pump

Now since i've had it running it never seems to have much pull at all.
So yesterday i finally found out on how to a diagnostic check and it came up with the following errors:

24 Intake air Temp Sensor Signal
Diagnosis

* Open or short circuit in intake air temp sensor signal (THA).

Trouble Area

* Intake air temp sensor circuit
* Intake air temp sensor
* ECU

25 Air-Fuel Ratio Lean Malfunction
Diagnosis

* When air-fuel ratio feedback compensation value or adaptive control value continues at the upper(lean) or lower(rich) limit renewed for a certain period of time.
* When air-fuel ration feedback compensation value or adaptive control value feedback frequency is abnormally high during feedback condition.
* When marked variation is detected in engine revolutions for each cylinder during idle switch on and feedback condition.
*O2 sensor output in less than 0.45 volts for at least 90 seconds when O2 sensor is warmed and 1500 rpm or above

Trouble Area

*open injector circuit
*lack of fuel pressure
*Ignition system
*Vacuum sensor
*O2 sensor
*ECU

31 Vacuum sensor

*No signal at Vacuum sensor (PIM)

Trouble Area

*Vacuum sensor to ECU

43 Starter Signal
Diagnosis

* No "STA" signal to ECU until engine speed reaches 800RPM with vehicle not moving.

Trouble Area

* Ignition switch circuit.
* Ignition switch
* ECU
The weird thing is that its seems to be running rich as you can smell it and my AF guage never reads lean and is constantly in the rich range when your foot is to the floor.
My rail pressure is set to 35psi at idle on my after market risng rate FPR and every thing seems to be in order.
I thought it could with a tune but have reads heaps on here that it should still go hard without one using the factory maps etc.
Timing is set to 5 deg and i also installed an SAFC-I once it was turbo
I've noticed that when the car is off it usually reads vacuum on the SAFC and has once read boost. does this mean my map sensor is buggered?
Also from time to time it miss's quite badly and idle ranges from 600-1200rpm.

I've fiddled with it heaps and talked to quite a few people but cant seem to get it going good just seems to go like an N/A one really

Can anyone help me out please and point me in the right direction

also both your problams seam to be in the AFM so maby check that plug & wireing

has the air temp sensor been removed from the charger manifold and put into your piping, plugged in?, it will go into limp if not.

Is the cam timing right?, how much vacuum do you have at idle? or where they already in before the conversion?

I was talking to my mate whom helped me with the conversion last night. And i don't think we have.
What does it look like? as we looked on this guys ae101 trueno but could not spot it, we think its the white box thingy just before throttle body is this right?

And i'm pretty sure timing set but i guess ill recheck it just incase

Thanks

Do excuse me for potentially querying the obvious...

If it is 4agze engine from Ae101 gtz, it should not have an AFM at all, as they're map sensored.

or are you actually using a 4agze from an ae92 gtz or mr2 that requires an AFM?

Ahh no i'n not using the 7M AFM at all its the error codes on the FAQ tech on this forums that says those codes. I'm puzzled as to why it's giving me this code

When it runs good as in not missing usually bout 20-22InHg or what ever the units are. I put the cams in when i turboed it. Vacuum seems to be the same

When you fabricated the turbo manifold where did you mount the oxygen sensor?

And as True-no-turbo said, do you have the intake air temp sensor hooked up? The redtop manifold should have one on it, I guess you could just swap it for the gze one.

Thats with the vacuum connected should i set it to 35 without it connected?

I put it about 100mm back from the original position it sits just about where the front sway bar is. Would this cause any problem would it?

Think i sorted that, i didn't know you had to set it to 35psi with the vacuum unplugged. Seems to run alot leaner now but not to lean.

Can someone show me a pic of the air temp sensor please, i don't think i ever had one. The only thing i can find is this white unit on the side of throttle body which has a spinning mechanism on it, unsure as to what this does tho.
