I beieve they are all interchangable and most fwd celicas use s series boxes.... they only lsd gearbox that I know of made for celicas is in some 94-99 celica/currens. Thats the E-56. I think the E series boxes are supposed to be stonger internally too.

The E-56 has thicker driveshafts though so you'd need them but it should match up

I use an ST-202 FWD LSD box in my ST-182.
Fits just fine, tho needed to adjust a mount slightly.
Dont know about shafts tho, I ditched the 182 celica ones for some supercharged levin shafts.

I think the 202 shafts may have been too long to fit in the 182, cant remember. Regardless. if you use different shafts, you have to make sure they fit in the hubs, or replace the hubs. Had the levin shafts machined down to fit in 182 hubs

I got the box cheap, but they usually go for about $1000
Dunno how much the shafts were, cant see them being expensive.
Same goes for getting them machined
Everything else is 182, cept maybe the clutch slave, which i think came with the box.

$300?? i dont think he knew what it was! you may need to do a few mods to sort out the linkages on an mr2 box

I think most if not all factory LSD toyota boxes are viscous?
All my stuff was secondhand aswell, fark paying new prices.
I think Toyotas Galore (think thats what they called) had a 202 LSD box recently, but they wanted $1200

you can use a SW20 MR2 LSD box but you need the shifter arm from a gt4 gearbox, or possibly an st202 box, you will also need to plug up the old hole from the stock shifter arm.
If you simply want to get an LSD without too much stuffing around, and don't need the extra strength of an E series box, it might be cheaper to get a sanding block type LSD and install it into your existing box. They are relatively cheap (search the MR2 forums for info), the most expensive part being the installation, as the gearbox has to be partially dismantled.

I've got a spare gearbox that I wont be using that I suspect is an lsd. It will bolt up to a 3s-ge... was sold to me (I hadnt seen it till I had paid and been sent it) as st-182 celica box... but looks exactly like an E-56 lsd from a st-206 curren that I also have.

so to check for sure all I need to do is stick a driveshaft in one side... spin it.... hold the input shaft still and see what way the other side turns right?...if it turns the same direction lsd, if opposite non-lsd?

I'll sell it if someone wants it after i check.... but the reason I didnt use it is cause i is missing a slave cylinder, speed sensor and shifter arm.

a simpler way to check for E series lsd is look throught the hole where the shafts go, if its lsd there will be a bar running across the hole. if non lsd there will be an unobstructed view through the hole.

Its a gearbox that I assume is from an st202 celica or st206 curren

I own what I know is an E56 lsd box from a curren and the one i will be selling looks idedntical

As I said it was sold to me as a st-182 box but when I had a look at it its definately not the gearbox I was expecting to see. I bought it off a guy tat bought it from an engine importer. There are no lsd st-182 gearboxes

It is missing and needs these things: speed sensor (whole unit including the gear and eletrical connector), slave cylinder (but thats easy to pick up, your one on your old box might fit, but lots of people buy new anyway), shifter arm (probably also not so hard to get hold of, one of another gearbox might fit)

I will probably want about $300-400 for it or more if the buyer wants me to get the missing bits and pieces for it. Beacause I dont know the history of it though I can give you your money back if it turns out to be shit.

So if you want it in a few weeks that cool... but I am going to hold onto it just in case my other gearbox is no good
