Postby Silent Knight » Wed Jun 09, 2004 12:39 pm

I was wondering if were to get my hands on a normal dash eg. not a friggen diggy dash for my GA70 supra would all the plugs and everything fit in the right spots so i can just do a straight swap if i can find a normal dash out of same model and year supra?

Cheers

hey, yeah, it's not a straight plug in swap. the wiring and the plugs themselves are completely different, you also need the analog fuel sender as this is also different. there are probably more things that are different, but we haven't found them yet. so yeah, it's not an easy swap.

when you do the conversion, you will not be changing the entire loom, only the engine loom, which is seperate. you have to remove the entire dash and most of the interior to change the main car loom (been there, done that, not fun). you are going to have a mission wether you do it at the same time as the conversion or not, the two are not really related.

the loom for the dash actually comes out quite easily. There are a couple of plugs on the driver's side kick panel area (you know, where all the fuses and shite are), and I think there was one on the passenger's side too. All you really need to do is unplug the loom in these places, unbolt the dash and remove it. I'm sure there were a few other things you need to do to remove it, but that's basically it. From there I think it is a case of swapping the analog dash wiring loom onto your dash, reinstalling, plugging everything back in an plugging in and installing the analog dash. Aswell as the fuel level sender, you need the speedo cable from the analog dash. I should note I haven't actually done the swap from digital to analog, but I had a digital and an analog supra at the same time and pulled the dashboards out of both (and reinstalled the analog one).
