RWD gearbox types?

Postby matt dunn » Wed Jun 09, 2004 11:24 pm

What are the different types of RWD gearboxes that toyota make and what did they come out of.
I know..
T50 came behind 4AGE in AE86 and some celica's and behind 2TG's in some cases,
But W5* series and I think there is a G something series box aswell?
And the R154 I thought was the 5 speed out of the latest shape supra but someone said they came out earlier than that. Are they still the same box?

Thanks for any info.

the r154 is the big daddy, hard to get and really strong, from late 80's early nintys supras, from what i under stand,

w58 is from a supra as well, there are new and old versions depandant on which model car, apparently the latest w58 is really strong

as for the others in the w series im not sure

there's also a P50 (and P40???), i've only seen one once in a TT132 corona station wagon behind a 2T. apparently they're fairly strong, same bellhousing as a T50 and same output spline (20). fairly rare apparently though and i'm not sure on the length of them.

cheers,
Matt.

the cressidas usually have the same or similar gearbox to the supras, depending on year i think,
and i believe the old toyota crowns also had the same g/boxes

The G series box comes in alot of vans, it has the same gearset as a w series box. They are good for parts but no good for $&#$% all else as they are cable change!

G series boxes out of hilux's have the shifter in the same place as the W series box. G series out of liteace or hiace have side shifter levers.
