Modifying Driveshafts?
whats involved in shortening a driveshaft?
is the only way to get splines cut further down it and the end cut off or can they cut it in the middle and rejoin it somehow
basically I need to know what kinda price I should expect and whatever you know about how they do it
also anyone know of any good machinists/engineers to do it around the Palmy area?

for RWD:
don't know of anywhere to do it but basically you give them your input and output end, tell them the length you want it, how many universals, etc and they weld it up and balance it.
its not the sort of job you should be doing at home though
for FWD????

fwd driveshafts are pretty different to rwd driveshafts, thats not to say they can't be modified. why do you want to shorten them????
i know its been done before, can't think off hand of who's done it though.
i think you'd probably have to have something custom machined up unless there's something from a different vehicle that will fit.
what are they for?

well now I'm pissed off
after checking up with motor machinists that they do actual shorten driveshafts and discussing with them how they do it and a price I took my driveshafts in today to get them done and guess what?... of course they dont do it any more. $$% bastards
So I'll be trying your guys suggestions... keep them coming
Also if anyone has some driveshafts lying around I might be interested in them especially if you have some supercharged GTZ levin/trueno ones... dont really need the cv joints either
