cheap = boom.

dont bother, its not worth the hassle of 'tricking' the stock ecu - talk to mrozio for the results of this.

turbolinks are about $500, powerlinks are cheaper, if you can't afford either of these you shouldnt be doing a turbo conversion.

cheers

actually using the std ecu is not a problem IF you know what you are doing and know the limits of this type of setup.

but yeah the turbolink and powerlink are good cheap options

You have to think about your ultimate goal. Your going to run a 10.3:1 compression motor on boost? With a stock ECU? With no knock detection? 6-7PSI? BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM.
The answer is Helmholtz!

nothing wrong with the compression.
nothing wrong with no knock detection.

it's all in the fuel and spark.

If you dont already have a loom or an ECU or a map sensor and have to byt all three then std way will be about the same as aftermarket and not as good in my opinion.

redtop turbo is mean .. compression is the shiz .. dont let mutton limit your boost you must unlearn what you have learned to make true power

Do you have a supercharged ECU & sensor, cause wont run on non-supercharged one with boost.
If you do then your 1/2 way there already.

If your car is MAP not AFM then you can do what i did when i turbo'd the AE115 carib. Replace the MAP sensor with a 2-BAR MR2 item and replace the injectors to suit. Now with the 7AFE engine the 2 bar MAP and starlet GT injectors provided a perfect fuel curve (as shown below). You will also need to knock back the timing. Best way to do this would be to use something like an MSD Boost timing master. PM me if u want help locating one - i can proabably get one in from the USA for you. With a 4AGE you may or may not be able to use the starlet GT injectors - its all about matching the voltage output on the MAP sensor to the increased flow thought the larger injectors - as the injector pulse never changes as the stock ECU has no idea you have put larger injectors in. In you are skeptical about this methodology go do some web searches - its done a lot in the USA.

Dyno sheet: Note fuel curve at the top.
