I'm a little new to turbos, so I have a few questions
Can anyone expand on results from different turbo applications ?
Using: AE101 4AGZE, VR4/similar Intercooler, Link, appropriate injectors
In a recent post I saw Jade list a few different turbos, that all work well.
What is more important for maximum acceleration, power over the rev-range ? or top end ? ..
-too big a turbo/too much lag and by the time the power kicks in its too late ?
-too small a turbo, not enough top end, get rheeled in
I know that its a trade off between reliability, responsiveness, ease of driving, VS power .. eg a small turbo tuned to ~240 HP would be nice.. easily rev'd.. and generally all around quick
.. but who wants deminishing top end ?
where is the happy medium for power/acceleration
if 300HP from a 1.6 is too annoying as a daily driver, and 240 isn't quite quick enough for the rush ? where's the happy medium ?
which turbo @ what boost ? I imagine smallest possible turbo (that can still achieve desired horsepower), with maximum possible flow, for quick response, spread power-band and hopefully good top end.
Pity the SC12 isnt efficent/effective.. linear power w/ natural low down torque = the shiz
I was thinking somewhere around 265-275HP .. responsive/easy to drive/still strong 1/4 time?
Which turbo is the best for a street-racer ?
How is a ball bearing turbo better ?
How important is the Intercooler application/piping ?
