i want an oil cooler

i run a silvertop in my aw11 and it gets a bit hot :cry:

. i am after some info on engine oil coolers, price, availability, difficulty of attachment etc.

need an external oil filter adapter kit with steal braded lines, then an earls oil cooler where u tap into the braded lines. The thats about hmm $500+ later.

you can save alotta money by using pushlock fittings and rubber hose instead if the braided ones.. goto someone like enzed to sort these out

well its still an option!
on a different thread about oilcoolers some one (i think fivebob) recomended fitting a thermostat in with an oilcooler to ensure that your oil is only cooled when it needs it

2nd hand oil coolers are $8 from pick a part, quite a lot of diesel cars and vans have them so they're not too hard to find.

i got one for my lancer a couple of weeks back for $17 including the lines and bolts to fit, i already had the adaptor kit though. might have a hard time finding one of them 2nd hand.

im planing to " try and and find " a evo oil cooler good flow propertys

i never thought of using a termostat our lamborghini tractors have a system simaler to this but it leads directly in to the sump via a termostat and a oil cooler the " about the size " size of a toaster i would like to use this on my ze but there a werid set up ie the air flows up instead of across and i cant figure out were to mount it

Buy a stock aw11 one, it fits the 20v and they are pretty cheap. i brought the whole unit, filter adapter and hoses for $25 from a wrecker, and they came on EVERY auto aw11 and theres a heap of auto AW11's sitting in wreckers. if you want, contact Hillside wreckers in upper hutt, they have an auto with all the cooler bits still on it, they are also really well priced. your aw11 will already have the holes drilled in the firewall for the cooler, all you'll need to do is cut the water pipe and attach the cooler, and fit the filter sandwitch. OH one thing i forgot, you'll need an auto sump aswell as they have the drain drilled in them

done it before, really easy one day job and its not that hard.

just grab all the parts off an AW and you'll be sweet. no electricals needed here!

Hahahah got a Lamby tractor! Nice!

Amazing to think that they went from making one of the slowest things in the vehicle world to making some of the worlds fastest super cars!

being a mechanical engineer i dont see the point of heating up the engine coolant to cool the oil.

i guess i could just get a bigger radiator instead.

cut the water pipe? do aw11's run water cooled oil coolers? or am i reading this wrong.

maybe try increasing air flow over your radiator with more venting or something along those lines? or a radiator with more cores, not that expensive to have done to your stock radiator and then it bolts straight into place.

haha yea trust me they r the only sex looking tractors in the world and the fastest to there govened speed of a wooping 40k in top gear 18th gear ha also change into 18th in reverse u can do 40k in rev as well also can get them wheel standing buy dumping the clutch and keep on changing up gears :twisted:

I'd be looking at the reason for the thing getting hot. I've a 20v in my AW11 racecar and it never gets hot. Get the radiator cleaned out first and make sure that the coolant lines are hooked up the right way - it's back to front compared to the 16v i.e. the bottom line from the front goes to the thermostat housing below the distributor and the top one connects beside the exhaust maifold.
