cracked headlight

Postby Fred » Thu Aug 05, 2004 6:30 pm

hey does anyone know if you can still get a warrant with a cracked headlight? the crack isnt affecting the way the light is or anything still as bright as the other.

and also to what extent can u modify ur bonnet without needing a cert if u are allowed to modify it at all? like stiking a bonnet scoop on it is that alright?

you cant get a warrant with a damaged headlight. Even small, insignificant damage.

You CAN get a wof with a cracked headlamp, as long as it doesnt affect the beam, or allow moisture in.

We get cracked headlamps all the time at work, we put 'lite skins' on them, and they go straight through for a wof/cof

Generally, as long as there is no moisture in there, and its only a crack, ie it doesnt have the star effect on the back, then you wont have a problem.

Have a quick read of this:
http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/publications/vi ... ctions.pdf

My understanding of that is that as long as its not going to hurt someone or block your vision seriously then it shouldn't be too much of an issue. What scoop are you planning on? Best bet if you do put one on and aren't sure then dont try to get a warrent at VTNZ :) Find a nice little garage somewhere

was jst curious bout any issues arising from stiking a small hole round air filter area, but was mainly interested in it cause mate wants to put a st205 gt4 bonnet scoop on his old shool gt4

Take the light out and drain the water.

Drill a little hole in the bottom to drain it, blow out the light with compressed air and sit the light in front of a heater for a while if the air doesn't get rid of all the water

Yeah, I'd be guessing so. Have a hunt through the LTSA site if there is anything you're not sure off. All the rules about warrents and the like are there in PDF format so you can have a look over them
