The only way to really fix the heatsoak problem is to get a front mount.

Make sure you have both a place for air to enter the I/C (Scoop) and exit the engine bay (raise the rear of the bonnet or put some rearward facing vents with louvres just before the rear of the bonnet). These wont fix the heatsoak problem though...... there are intercooler fans around that apparently work well but they can be expensive.

Of course I'm assuming you have an air to air I/C.... don't know jack about the watercooled ones....

I guess you are talking about a ST165? water to air

That’s pretty extreme. Not being able to but your hand on the intercooler an hour after use. What dose the inside of your radiator look like? In need of a flush? A mate of mine had a similar problem with his GTR powered Mazda GTX. He went out and got a new water pump, thermostat, re-cored the radiator. I’d try a new radiator core on go from there.

Just my thoughts.

Remove you under bonnet insulation what's left of it and also the rubber strip running along the top of the firewall at the back of the engine bay, this will alow lots of hot air to exit the engine bay whereas at the moment it basically has nowhere to go, if you're really anal you might want to get your manifolds, heat shields and valve covers etc HPC coated.

has anyone ever proven that works?
theres normally a rather high presure zone there, thats why gm had the cowl induction scoops on certain cars.... i take off the strip and them tape some strips of string there and see what they do... you may find air trying to get in there instead of out.....

I was told by someone in the know that when they used to rally the ST165's back in the early 90's that's what they used to do as they suffered from exactly the same problem. I can't "prove" it works but you can take my word it does help, airs not going to be getting in there, ever seen an evo 4-8, ST205 etc? the vent works the same way, high pressure zone infront of the radiator, low pressure zone behind it, also very similar effect to tilting your sunroof up and noticing the extra airflow through your air vents, the air now has somewhere to go so more airflow is the result.

That is an old thought and does not work.
The bottom of the windscreen is a high pressure zone in the air flow of the car as the air that flows over the front of the car has to cram into the same space as the air that flows over the roof.
This is why the factory collects air from there to go into the heater system.
If you have the air on fresh air not recirculate when you are driving at 100k you will get all that air coming through pushed by that high pressure.

Thats also why cars like tranzam race cars have bonnet scoops that collect air from the back not the front.

If you wedge the bonnet so it is higher at the back and has a gap it will
INCREASE OVERHEATING! So will removing the rubber strip in a similar way. Why else is it there?

so that is why Zohabs Evo drag car has its air filter panels at the bottom of the windscreen, also short path to the glovebox mounted turbo i guess

also NASCARs which are very very aero sensitive have their airbox intakes from where the stock heater intake is... in the cowl
