Oil Sensor?

Postby HZRDIZ » Wed Aug 25, 2004 9:59 am

Ok just wondering if there is such a thing as an oil sensir. The last couple of days my check engine light as been appearing after stop start driving every morning. Then i noticed the car was leaking oil and traced it back to the oil filter. Obviously this needs to be replaced or just tightened but does your check engine light come on for such a thing?

Im sure youve checked, but is your oil level still sweet?
It could come on if its got a leak around the oil sensor, thus reading an incorrect pressure.
Cant believe im still a member here.

mate sort that asap... 4ages are notorius for running bearings if the pressure drops...
check your oil level immediatly
if its ok, check as above for leaks around the sensor, i dont think ae111s have a low level sensor, so if the lights coming on your damaging your engine.
if things look ok it may be something like sludge in the sump blocking the oil pickup, thats quite common on 4ages as well. what ever it is best you sort it before driving it!

If people read you post as you've explained it the correct answer would be..

The oil level and oil pressure sensors have nothing to do the check engine light. They will bring on the oil light but have no connection with the efi system.

You will need to check the codes to find your problem.

Not saying the oil leak isn't a problem, just not the problem you've stated.
