GT-Four Won't Start!

I'm having some car troubles currently. I hoped out of my car to get some Subway and came back and it won't even try to turn over. The battery seems to be fine and I tried jumping it to no avail. It doesn't turn at all. I turn the key and nothing. I know thats kinda vague but any quick guesses as to what it might be and anything else I should try before I have to pay someone for help!

I'm assuming you know the battery is ok coz your ignition lights come on ... ? Got a multimeter? Check as much of your electricals between battery / alternator / starter as you can ... just sounds like charge isn't getting to your starter motor (as LowRydr stated).

And yeh ^^^ Good point ... try roll-starting it.

I occassionally have that problem with my 3s, it's most likely a poor connection to your starter solenoid or possibly my starting circuit i.e. alarm imobiliser connections may have come a bit lose. That's what I'll be checking when I get round to it

Pull the small wire off the starter and check what voltage it sees when the engine is being cranked. This gives an indication of the quality of the wiring leadng to the solenoid. There was so much voltage drop in mine that I had to put a relay between the battery and the starter and just use the starter wire to trigger the relay (there was enough current to do that thankfully).

Mine would do that occasionaly when hot, more resistance in the wiring and/or starter

check the connections to your battery too, may be corroosive or just poor wiring not quite connecting, check your alternator too

i just rol started it and then it was fine again
your solinid might be getting a little tired

if it was contacts he would here the the 'clink' of the plunger in the solenoid engaging.

if u have NOTHING at all, cept dash lights, could be a dodgy connection, or..... its your ignition switch contacts are dodgy/fukkd and the solenoid gettin no signal.

this was my prob in my te71, COROLLA of course

but that was 21 years old too btw

mine was a dry solder joint on the soilinod terminal
took a while to figgure that one out

Do Toyota's have a fuel pump relay. It may need to get resoldered. Common as problem on Hondas

Yep its the same problem I have had and also ALLFOURS. Change the starter and be done with it. I had mine rebuilt at first and it still didn't fix it.

Yeah sounds like it is my starter. Hopefully not a major thing.
