ECU & AFM needed to borrow for an hour

Postby AXNGRL » Tue Sep 07, 2004 11:06 pm

Does anybody have an ECU off a facelift 20v &/or an AFM that I could borrow for an hour or so?

I need to check whether mine have crapped out & need to borrow one to put on my car to see if I need to replace them...

Preferably east auckland, but anyone in auckland would be great. I'll even buy some beers for the lucky temporary donator :D

Sorry if this is in the wrong place...

You can put a multimeter on the AFM and check for it's resistance consistancy. Good luck finding someone welling to lend you an AFM.
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

Cheers

Its only for however long it takes me to take mine & theirs off, put theirs on my car & run it, then take it off & put it back on their car. I'm not asking to keep it or anything...

Its still extremely jerky to drive in slow traffic, if you're cruising in a gear (1st, 2nd or 3rd) & take your foot off to slow down, its jerks, vice verce if you try to accelerate again & before anyone says anything, yes I'm doing it gently :)

I'm also thinking it could be a bit underpowered, ie, you don't really feel anything kick in at 4500 & it could just be cause its getting a bit tired, as the engines coming up to 200,000

I've already cleaned the throttle bodies & it made a bit of a difference, but next to nothing. Have changed the fuel filter & given it numerous oil changes, changed the spark plugs & am running out of options, so now its onto the expensive stuff...

Yeh mine seems to be doing the same. Yet checked the codes and came up with nada. Mine varies on power down low end. Sometimes there will be, other times there wont be. My mechanic said that when the engine warning light comes one but there are no fault codes it can mean that a new computer is in order. He said just check for loss of power if the light comes on or any flat spots and then it can be assessed.
I cleaned out the throttle bodies aswell but i still seem to be getting jerking in the lower gears aswell...

Sure your tps is set properly? Had a similar problem over the last few days with my 5e. Slightly hesitant on light accel then it would accel normaly after a surge. Same for decell. Noticable in the lower gears but not so apparent the higher you go. Very annoying in traffic. Adjusted the tps and its driving perfectly again.

Sell your car and buy my one  but really it very much indeed sounds like your tps needs setting! Think .5 volts is the correct setting don't ask me for any more details cos i can't remember!
Mine did exactly the same thing before i set it ad once fixed it was mint - hated the bunnyhop in-experienced driver look cos the car was doing funny things to me!
Also don't know if it's all face lifts but none of them seem to wind up any harder above 4500 unless you restrict the exhaust which also cuts top end power for some reason! Mine with the open exhaust on it just keeps on winding up throuhout the rev range, doesn't have a noticeable jump anywhere just a nice smooth curve if you believe my dyno sheets i have for it :)

BTW did i mention my cars for sale :)

.5 volts? TPS spans a voltage. You need to set it both open and closed. Might be .5 volts closed.... I have no idea as I set mine internal to the Link.

Yeah think it must be closed because i definately didn't set it wot, hmm maybe i should have done that?? Anyhow seemed to fix the low down response problem i was having maybe because it was set closer to what it should have been than before i set it!

Throttle Position Sensor. Found on... the throttle of all places. Should be a little box with 2 screws on it for adjustment and a plug onto it with..... 3 wires I think
