I dont care what anyone else thinks, but the quick brap of a PP motor really does it for me...when I first heard Stu Lawton's 323 fire up (I was approximately 5km's from the lock ups ) it made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
I do quite like the sound of a stupidly cammed V8 pretending to idle, and also EJ20's sound mean, especially with headers...yummy!
BDA Ford Escort, resonating through a forest/countryside etc as it comes towards you on a special stage on a rally pulling 9000rpm... oh f**k yes.
Also the Alfa Montreal I sat o the back of during a dyno run ranks up there.... they use a 2.6l quad cam V8... and this is the early 70s!! Sound of ripping silk
