At the very least your going to need bigger injectors to make 300hp, also it will probably be impossible to make that power with the stock ecu, it might not even run with the stock ecu and bigger injectors.

I thought the stock ecu could only handle 14psi?

nah stock ecu on afm ze's will handle plenty more. I'll let bazda post up about it as he himself has a good reliable setup on afm ze.

hello

yes my afm 4agte engine is going well, i can run up to 20psi on my stock ecu.
At the moment I have no need for an after market ecu as the car goes really well.

check out my cardomain web page for more info on what I am running.

ok well since no one has really answered it,

you should actually be using the bluetop intake manifold as this is a bigport manifold to match the big port head you are using on your afm gze (redtop is small port and used in late model ze conversions)

In regards to fuelling, a pump upgrade will be necassary. Std injectors will flow around 250 hp (fly) so may need to add in an extra injector or 2 with a powerlink or the like. If you decide to go aftermarket ecu then upgrade the size of the 4 injectors you have to soemthing like 440 or 450. This should see you up around this power level.

and yep re placement of afm, go see barrys pics, actually here ya go

Well you don't choose the turbo size b4 anything else. You gotta determine how much power ya wan't and how pratical it needs to be etc. T3/4 is very laggy on a 1600, bileve me. Even a t28 is on the large size for a street 1600, but it will be ideal if your after respectable power.

t3/t4 on a gze wont be to bad. just get a a/r suited to the engine. i had a hiflowed t3 on my old b16a and it had stuff all lag really and went well to 8000rpm

t25's are shit.. would never use one of them again.. just to small

having no lsd doesnt mean 1 wheel will just spin.. my old civic had no lsd but generally on the strip itd spin 2.

thats a good trap speed tho. theres an old version link on trademe for sale.. that shuld do the trick for the fuel/ignition side of things.

it always spins one wheel you could see the smoke coming off 1 wheel only when I did a burnout and if u wind the windows down u can hear one wheels going hard, evlgtz has been in my car and he could feel the 1 wheel spinner compared to his lsd.

my 0-60ft's were around 2.4s best was a 2.38s

Tukumi

Are you essentially running a straight t4 now? Sounds exactly like what Im about to use - still sussing out a exhaust housing. Quite interested in full specs if you care to divulge.

Im runing a Link LEM v5 in my levin, I help Link a bit testing there products and giving feedback which can be a bit of a pain sometimes as im forever changing to diferent computer setups and have to retune alot, so theres not alot of point getting dyno tunes all the time so we do all the tunning on the road (in controlled circumstances) with a wideband o2 meter and knock gauge. We seem to get good results, but im keen to get it on the dyno next week and have it tuned for the next meeting at ruapuna on the 9th.

Good luck for it man. Sounds like a awesome new setup. be real interested to see how it goes.

Awesome 60ft time too, thats mean.

I recently did a 13.3@108 with a 2.05 60ft which is a vast improvement from me good old 2.4s and 2.5s with the odd 2.2 lol. Amazing the difference to ya ET that ti makes.

I was running a t3/t4 on my 4agte which worked ok got me 250hp@17psi atw but no matter what boost or fuel curve i would run 250hp was the max i could get. After talking to a few people i decided to check my turbine backpressure and found at 15psi i was getting up to 30psi in the turbine housing(or exaust manifold) so the gasses couldnt get out fast enough. The reason behind this was I was running a turbonetics super to4e compressor side which its operating speed was arond 85,000rpm and the turbine was standard t3 which is meant to spin at around 140,000rpm, so the speed of my turbo was somewhere around 100,000rpm which meant the t3 exaust wheel could spin fast enough to get the gases out.

So yesterday i was on a mission to sort out the problem, I talked to a couple of guys overseas with big hp 4agtes (eg400hp upwards), They were all running full to4 turbos. So i did some more ringing around and managed to find a Hks to4 exaust housing that took the smallest to4 wheel being O Trim and it had a A/R of 0.40. I bought it yesterday morning for $200 and it was even hpc coated. I got the right wheel off a mate to suit built the turbo modified my manifold, made a new downpipe and got it all done by 6pm.

All i can say so far is that this turbo spools alot harder than my old setup, i get 15psi by 3500rpm, but best of all at 15psi im only getting 17psi in the turbine. and it revs hard to the limiter at 8000rpm, im getting wheelspin in 3rd where i never used to, and its got rid of a fair bit of detonation that it was getting from being to restricted. It will be back on the dyno next week so ill let you know how it goes.

Hope this helps people with t3/t4 setups.

what are was ya t3/t4 ex turbone ??
i use a .68 on mine and it spools to 25 psi fast enough :D

The old setup was a standard t3 turbine with .63 A/R exaust housing off a FJ20det, the main problem with my old setup was the front compressor side of the turbo its a turbonetics super to4e, the problem being the fact that it is a super To4e which is alot bigger than a standard to4e wheel the super is 3.2Inches vs 2.9inches on the exducer of the standard to4e wheel.
I think most properly designed t3/t4 turbos would normally run a stage 3 t3 wheel in the turbine which is very close to the smallest t4 N trim wheel.
If you buy a new t3/t4 from turbonetics they always come with stage 3 t3 exaust wheel.

I did 113mph on 15psi, so I must be doin OK, I don't trust dynos all that much. If It didn't rain I would of dialed up 20psi and may of seen 115mph if everything else was mint. Just a shame my 60foots are only 2.4.

Tukumi, it would be interesting to meet up sometime before the next drags to compare apples with apples.

p.s. What is your timing at 15psi?

When the boost initially comes on it around 18degrees total and higher in the revs it gets up to 23.

Id be keen to have another look at yours or go for a ride. I need to plum the wastegate back into the exaust then tune it. I should have that done in the next couple of days if i can find somewhere open to buy some exaust bends from.
My best trap speed was 112mph only did 12.8. on 15psi.

Mine vents straight up at the bonnet, so if I want the paint to stay on i need to at least turn it back down towards the ground, and its a bit hard to be discreet with it venting.

yea ma turbine housing is quite close to the bonnet but my rangi paint job hasn't flaked off yet. Tukumi, do you get away with running 15psi on 96? I can't here detonation over my screamer so I have been conservative with the timing and run a semi avgas and 96 mix. Next time out at the drags I will try straight avgas and 20psi. :)

I get no det at 15psi if tunned corectly on 96, theres a fine line where the right timming makes good power and where it starts feeling restricted from being to retarded.

What about when your running 18degrees advance on 96 @ 15psi? Mine runs about 16-18degrees when I run a semi av mix. Maybe I'm being a bit too conservative, my fuel ratio's are good at around 11.5-12.0/1. Also I'm running NGK 7 plugs, I can't prove wether the colder plugs makes a real difference or not with detonation.
