Problemsssss

Postby Durrty » Sun Jan 02, 2005 9:48 am

ok well im stumpd my 4efte is idling to high, i thought it had a blown head gasket but did a compression test and it was 150psi on all cylinders and took the thermostat out an it doesnt buble at top of radiator nemore, and ive got the throtle practically fully closed and it still idles at 1500-2000rpm and the only way i can make it rev right is by unpluging the factory boost controller but then the car puf out black smoke, so im stuk,

also wen im thrashn it and quick change through gears the car slows down like its been turned off or has a lack of fuel or air, any clues ne1????
someone said oxy sensor cause i havn got it plugd in

Mine does that real bad too, if you snap 2nd and stomp on it, the car bogs down really badly momentarily, then boosts up again. Do you run a BOV? I watched mine the other day while my mate revved the car, the piston seemed to take an awfully long time to return to its' seat, during which time all boost just leaked out through the slowly closing hole.. causing a huge flat spot.. I'm thinking that might be my problem?

I find if I flat shift, (keeping your foot on the gas while changing gear) It hardly happens, because the BOV isn't open as much, for as long. I'm considering trying a BFMR factory plumbback bov to see if it fixes it.

About the high idle, put your hand over your factory/aftermarket bov and see if that fixes it, I've had that before in turbo's where the bov wasn't sealing, and still had suction, allowing air into the intake under vacuum, causing a high idle.

idle

Do you have a thermostat in there at all? If not it most likely has a wax stat idle controll valve which wont be getting hot enough to bring the idle down

Otherwise check the throttle butterfly is clean and adjusted so that ot closes fully but not sticking.
Then check the idle air screw setting.

Is your bov adjustable? try tighteneing it, the noise will be more intense, but it may solve the problem.

the real answer is a plumb back, but of course, they dont go PISHSHSHHHHH
