Anyone using aftermarket cams in their 4age

Postby ants_ae92 » Thu Jan 06, 2005 4:55 pm

I was wondering who has aftermarket cams in their 4age 16v? What setups are you guys running, eg stock valves and ecu, or aftermarket computer?

I was looking at 272deg or possibly 264deg but I want to run stock ecu?
Any Ideas guys. Possibly going through kelfords as well.

In my 16 valve I run...
Stock valves with modified stem.
Link LEM 4
304 degree 415 thou lift cams. From Kelfords, who also created the shim under bucket solution.
The answer is Helmholtz!

I'm running a high performance road grind from Kiwicams with Crow
Cams heavy duty valve springs, in a ported and polished head (16v Big Port). Running standard ECU at the mo, but have an adjustable FPR and higher capacity injectors (looking to just get the ECU chipped).

Another option to the OEM shims are the one that come is TOyota Yaris 1.0 engine which i believe are a direct fit/upgrade to ours since they´re one piece and theyre lighter and are available in many sizes to adjust the valves.

i got this from somewhere on club4age, its in regard to replacing shim buckets... cant remember the whole story right now but they are a replacement for shims or something (correct me if i'm wrong) for running a high lift camshaft in a 4age, i believe there is a really good article in the tech section there
When in doubt, down and out.

I also looked into this. From memory I think it was about $35 a piece which works out to be $560ish for all 16. Then if you needed to change the clearances youd have to change the whole bucket.

You'd want to check prices from a dealer first though
