Ummm.. aren't the silver tops VVT and the black tops VVT-i ?
well, you COULD say they are inteligent... just like a vb program is intilegent... (spelling x2!)
when certain prerequisites are met, it will send a 12v supply to the vvt cam... thus switching it on.
but only when it meets them, now... saying if it needs to MEET them, means it knows the difference.
but thats like saying a Relay know's when a curent runs through it... no it dosnt, it just does what its built to do!
so basically, when the ecu sees that engine = above x temp, and rpm = x and throttle pos = x and all of the above are met... it turns it on (youll feel it at around 2600rpm if you plant it in second gear from 1500ish... i think its around there for me, i cant really remember. but meh, a slight change in pull >.>
but meh, silvertops and blacktops do the same thing. the blacktop is just better balanced etc. (see other thread). Basically, when a = x & when b = x then goto c...
c = send 12v supply to vvt cam >.> vvt turn on, car go better / faster / harder..... also known as more overlap... by 30degrees >.> get it turning on at idle and youll hear it ^_^.
vvt-i is when the ecu controls how many degrees to advance or retard the cam to provide the best torque / power output... of course, if we had that, it would be the shizzle

bah, im probbably wrong, but thats how i understand it.
