4AGE oil pumps?

Postby matt dunn » Tue Feb 22, 2005 11:55 pm

Aparantly there are a few types of oil pumps that are available on the 4AGE's.

One has Aisan S1 on it and the other has Aisan S2.

Now the 20V that I have apart has Aisian 1 on it without the S.

Have they reverted back to using the old type pump, or is this another type??

i have 2 4agze's sitting here from ae101's,
one has the aisan 1
and the other aisan 2,
but neither of them has an s before the number

is it just a casting number as to which product line it came from?

just done some looking...
part numbers for the ae101 pumps are the same for 20v and ae101 ze, they also share it with small port 16vs and late ae92 ze.

ae111 has a different one

the tvis ones are the same as each other. so 40mm crank and 42mm crank use same pumps in the ae82/early ae92tvis

also early 4agze in the ae92 uses the same as the tvis type pump.... so basicly it was an across the board change

so to answer your question it appears to be a casting number and has no bearing on the actual parts being different 8)

I have read that (can't find the reference so don't take this as gospel) :
-early 4age (bigport?) pumps are slightly lower volume and where sometimes prone to cracking at high rpm (i think)
-later pumps (small port? and AE101?) have bigger volume than the early ones to deal with the squirters and I think cracking problem solved. Identical to the TRD pumps available when the bigport was in production.
-Latest oil pumps - I have no clue about these...

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

Don't quote me on this but I believe the only difference between Blacktop pumps and silvertop pumps is the casting on the front which allows the use of the Hydraulic tensioner?? :?:

that could be true, a different part number just tells me SOMETHING is different.... but not what

I was told the smallport and GZE pumps had wider gears.
Wider gears means more volume, and as KinLoud suggested
they are also less prone to cracking at high rpm.
But I havent pulled any apart to find out!
If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks it needed replacing anyway!
