So anyone got hookups, or can do deals? Im currently doing the same with an AE92 FXGT, went to find out about prices today - Looks like i should wait and go back with $5000 at least in my cheque account

Basically $2K for seats and hrnesses, then roll cage + 10,000 other things

B1NZ, there are plenty of fully prepped AE92 's for sale, probably a bit more than $5K, but you will be set to go immediately.

i built my own car along similar reasoning as Chrispy, i had a shedload of bits and a shell was saved from the crusher and fitted out. all up my TE71 owes me around the $3K mark, but that dosn't include any of the many donated man hours.

B1NZ:Yep Fangsport is right, there are heaps of cars for sale, AE92 FXGT'S for around $6500-8000 depending what u want.
I am doing mine myself cause i have around 80-90% of the driveline components sitting here in my garages. Unless u have the bits i would strongly recommend buying a premade o=car

I was building my car, had a std dx, engine box's diff's etc,
then sold it all and got more than what I paid for my complete race car!

Buying is cheaper than building 9/10 times.

On a non-related subject,

Fangsport, are you running this weekend?

a prepped car also allows you to get out there and stop daydreaming about what mods you're gonna do, what shocks to run etc. it's far easier to buy something ready built and adjust it to suit yourself, than being in a constant state of evolution with a work in progress.

make that 5th or 6th time lucky.
i don't know what the problem is yet. i gonna get all trick and fit an oil pressure gauge to it , in case the factory sensor is dodgey, or the melted mess of wires can't stand the heat. it only show up when it's been running a while .

Another valid point with the build up of a rally car is if you buy someone elses car you don't know what parts they have tried and what bits fit and don't fit. It may save alot of time in the build-up process you don't have to undergo BUT after talking to passenger pete you'd be surprised how many other manufacturers parts line up with other components in the different cars

I've recently bought one built up. AE85 with all the AE86 bits transferred across. Got an 4AGZE from an AE101 (from a rolled 65km car) running the AE101 stock ECU. T50, new TRD rear shocks and TRD LSD, proper homogated cage + certs, new seats, belts, fire, spares, extra wheels, mounted video camera, repainted, bla bla, etc etc.

If I was to build this up myself I would have paid allot more than what i purchased this for. Mind you, tidy well made examples dont come along every day though.

yes, been there done that,

but then you find something needs replacing and no, it's not off that model, not of the similar one either, now, where do I get one of them from?

Been there done that too.
