4age/4agze heads similar

Postby crispy'86 » Wed Mar 23, 2005 11:59 pm

Going to do a head gasket for a guy i know, he wants to put a 4age big port blue top head onto his 4agze. It's a big port 4agze from an ae92 so are there differences between the two with oil galleries and water galleries in different place?? Any advantage/disadvantage with this? he was going to put blue top cams in but he thinks a 4age head would do the trick. I'm not so convinced it'll be a straight forward thing.
Any people know??

They are exactly the same head, and to remove the head you have to take the cams out anyway so it would be far easier just to swap cams.

with the trd gasket wouldn't it raise the compression a bit much for detonation to take place?? ummm i forgot to mention this guy is running a turbo setup on it too

seeing as its a big port ze its the lower comp engine, so fitting a 0.8MM trd will probably be fine, depends on the boost and if anything else has been done to alter the compression. it certainly wont raise the compression to the same levels as the small port ze!

the stock gasket is 1.2mm
