Door light not working from drivers door??

Postby ThoughT ExperimenTs » Sat Mar 26, 2005 4:54 pm

Hi, my door light doesn't come on when I open my drivers door. I unscrewed the switch and it had the wire attached - I guess the bolt there compleats the current (seems to on the other door) so I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the problem might be?

usually a rusted contact or the contact is bent and needs to be bent back out so it makes contact better.... just take the switch apart and it should become apparent

Has the car had an alarm in the past? Quite often cheapo installers re-route that wire to the alarm instead of using voltage sensors etc.

the dome light, as it's officially known as is activated by a door pin switch similar to ones used by car alarms, pretty sure unless someone wanna correct me on that.

doesn;t look liek it's ever had a car alarm. The switch looks kind of hard to pull apart without breaking? i think the plastic bits have to snap?

Have you got a multimeter? Check for continuity through the switch wire and its mounting point.

Yea unfortunatly it looks like it is. The interior panels look like so much more work to remove then on my ae92 corolla so I'll just leave it.
