Properly make or just cut off half the shifter? Because that's not a true 'short shifter'....
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

They're simple to properly make, too.

Cutting the shifter is stupid because you need more effort to shift. A true short shifter requires no extra effort. All you do is modify the remote so you have shorter connecting arms on to the cables.

the type of short shifter i was meaning was one that shortens the play between the gears.. How would you easily go about making one? and does anyone have any idea how you would buy one from TRD and for how much cheers.

i meant the proper way.

i draw pic  (its 2am and i tired!)
the higher the shifter, the less throw required to move the shifter the same distance...

you need to add a plate of some kind (i had an engineer make one up for me, wont cost much at all.) and you also need to extend the bottom of the shifter itself, the same amount of the height of the plate (1cm did the trick for me...the higher you go, the less throw between gears, but also 'stiffer' it will be.) i had the same engineer also do that for me :) you can cut the top of the stick down to suit, obvisly youll probably want to cut it down minimum of the raised amount, to regain its natral height. all up it shouldnt cost you more than $20-30
a trd kit i would imagine upwards of $100

So its basically just changing the leverage of the shifter by moving the pivot point up. cheers

yup that sit, a TRD one doesnt mover the lever, it moves the pivot point, the gearknob still sits in exactly the same place.

but if your gunna make one, then id lift it up.

so cut the shifter after you do it.

moved pivot point, along with short shifter :D.

however will have more resistance, but with the *added* throw, wouldnt it be removed again?

eh?

no you dont cut it... effectivly you move the pivot up, and then space the mounts up by the same amount... that increases the throw.but you can add more below if you want by cutting and welding

the reason for the high price of the TRD ones is they include a leather knob that sells for over $120 and (on the fwd ones) a new cradle as well. whereas all the others iv seen are just a modded lever.

dont need a site!

if you just wanna mod the lever all you gotta do is move the pivot... then space up the mount to the same level 8)

even I can do it!
