the higher the shifter, the less throw required to move the shifter the same distance...
you need to add a plate of some kind (i had an engineer make one up for me, wont cost much at all.) and you also need to extend the bottom of the shifter itself, the same amount of the height of the plate (1cm did the trick for me...the higher you go, the less throw between gears, but also 'stiffer' it will be.) i had the same engineer also do that for me
you can cut the top of the stick down to suit, obvisly youll probably want to cut it down minimum of the raised amount, to regain its natral height. all up it shouldnt cost you more than $20-30
a trd kit i would imagine upwards of $100
