Front Seats in AE101 FXGT

Postby HZRDIZ » Sun Apr 03, 2005 1:54 pm

OK need to take my amps out of my FXGT for the sale but dont have a clue how to get the front seats out as i got the amps put in by car audio company.

Can someone tell me how to take them out? Pics would be helpful + i would asume the seats would be the same as ae101 levins/truenos. Thanks

If it's the same as my trueno, there are just 4 bolts at each corner holding it to the floor. They'll probably have pastic covers over them which pop off with a little work.

Yup, 4 bolts, one at each corner. You will probly have to slide the seat forwards / backwards to get to them all and they may be under little plastic covers.

Should be a 14mm bolts / nuts

Under each corner of the seat, at the end of each seat rail there will be plastic covers which hide the bolts that you are after.
They are a bit of a bugger to get off but - using a screwdriver and a bit of swearing your can get the plastic covers off by (in general) levering the side of the plastic covers outwards to release the clips that hold them in place.
Then you will need 14mm socket and ratchet to undo the bolts.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

If they are mounted under the carpet (like a good install would be) you will also need to remove the seatbelt which is a 19mm socket then remove the small piece of trim which runs along the bottom of the door way. Pull the carpet up and done.

If you are removing the driver seat as well there is a little wire which needs to be unpluged before you remove it. It tells the car that someone is sitting in the front seat and is for the seat belt warning. Unplug it before you remove the front seat. I found this out the hard way and just pulled the seat out ripping the wire out of the seat, all that happens is the seat belt warning light never comes on again.

I wondered what those wires going up into the seat were for... Thanks :D
