belt problems, help

ok i got up this morning and started my car. it was warming upand i came back inside. but when i went back out to leave i looked at the front of my car and i seen that the s/c , water punp belt had fulen off and also was the altinator p/s belt had fullen off and were just lying on the ground. now what could of corsed these belts to fall off there pullys. they were on there properly. and also the altinator belt was all frayed on tha r/h side. what has happened to my engine

well your altinator pully was probably streched n worn, and when it came off took the other one with it.

just replace them, check your pullys tho.. the v in one of them could be stuffed.

yea check all your pulleys as they my not be spining around and causing the belts to stretch and rip off. also check to see if your water pump is spinning aswell, as it could rust and stop spinning.

all my pullys are spinning fine. maby the belts are just $&#$%. i'm thinking it may be the altinator, i'm going to put a new one on today and i'll see how it gose. i'll post back after that

how much boost you running? what size is your crank?

everything is just standaed on it at the moment. just running 8 pound. i'm actely wondering if everything is because my mate has the exact same car and his is standard as well but mine wiped it. so maby his was getting worn. i duno

also i'm still having the prob with the belts

have you checked the belts condition? If the multi ribbed belts have any cracks or chunks taken out of them, replace it. It was probably a sign that your belts were too worn or not tensioned properly anyway.

while your at it, you should learn how to spell :roll:

belts do wear, and break, and if the pulleys are aligned incorrectly it will make the belts 'walk' off

dude no need to attack me on my spelling. i dont care if i can or not.

yea i'm going to get new belts tomorrow. and if i have any more trouble i'm just going to put in it the guarage for them to play with. i think the supercharge / waterpump belt was streched and worn.

as other have said could be worn belts as in chunks taken out of the "V" groves, but you havnt told us if there is or not.

let us know what happend when you get new belts
