3SGTE injector impedance

Postby Lloyd » Sun Apr 17, 2005 7:47 pm

Hey, they are all low in every generation of the 3S-GTE aren't they? And are a direct replcement for the silvertop ones?

They are low in all the models that used side feed injectors (Gen II & III), the Caldina has high impedance top feed, don't know the impedance of the Gen I top feeds.

they are low as well, they carry a resistor pack for them on the firewall..

Good good, and anyone know if they slot into the silvertop holes?

while we're talking about 3sgte injectors, does any generation of 3s have side feed low impedance 500+cc injectors that'd fit my jza80 fuel rail?

Cheers

Gen III are 540cc low impedance side feeds.

Just bringing up a very old thread... Ive got a gen 3 turbo with 540cc low impedance side feed injectors. I have a set of Sard 850cc high impedance side feed injectors. Do i need to do anything to fit them? I know going from high impedance to low impedance you need to fit a ballast resistor? or something, but not sure about the other way round.

Cheers

Remove the ballast resistor. It should be located on the rear firewall, behind the plenum.

Do i just unplug it or do i need to do some rewiring to remove it? Thanks Fivebob!!

Rewire it, the resistor goes between the injectors and +12v from the IGN relay. Probably best to get a resistor pack with the correct plugs from someone like Pick-a-Part and use the plugs from that if you don't want to butcher your resistor pack.

Depending on the resistance of the injectors you might be able to get away without removing it, but I wouldn't recommend it as it will increase injector lag times.

Also when tuning for the new injectors you will need to change the battery voltage compensation table. Did the injectors come with any Voltage vs Lag data?

Injectors didnt come with anything as they came from Sean/MR2SIK. Standard injectors measure 3.5 ohms, while sard's measure 14.9.

Also, before i figured out they were high impedance i had tried to run it. Now when i try run it (on standard 540's) it misses on idle. Obviously ive stuffed something due to my stupidity, what should i look for? Would like to get it running now until my RC goes, then i dont need the MR2 and can rewire it.
