How do I calculate required injector flow rates?

Postby ChaosAD » Mon Apr 25, 2005 12:10 pm

Is there a formula to work out what size injectors are required for X horsepower? I need some injectors for a 16v 4age capable of handling 180Hp.
Would my ae82 fxgt fuelpump be up to the task? or would I also need a replacement Fuelpump?

I think they will be a bit big. gtz injectors are around the 390 mark.
I was thinking that the 290ish 20v injectors would be a good size as they supposedly make 160Hp standard. So maybe something that size but top feed.

290cc injectors should flow enough for around 200hp at the engine using the formula i have here. can't remember where i got it from, think an old performance car, or fast fours, something along those lines. put it into excel, so i use it through there.

Starlet turbo (ep82 or ep91) : 295cc/min @ 13.8ohms and top feed. I always understood 4A-GZE to be a low impedence 365cc top feed unit. Sold some the other week to Braided Lines in Australia for their turbo'd 4EFE starlet running TD04L rex 'charger.

Paul. ;)
