T series diffhead into AE86 Diff?

Does anyone know if this definitely does or doesn't fit? Or can the t series CW & P be mounted on the bearings etc of the AE86?

If the t series is the hiace/liteace 7" diff head then the housing of the AE86 has to be ground back to fit the diff as the AE86 diff head is 6.7" in diameter.Also the 7" diff head needs alittle grinding as well to fit to the housing. U have to put spacer rings between the side bearings and the LSD housing, also a spacer ring is required between the CW&P and the LSD to move the CW closer to the pinion so the correct clearance can be gained

Or if you're using a t series diff head from te71 will fit with early ae86 axle splines. Or depending what axles you have and head u can do a little conversion with a certain series celica. Refer to Fangsport, p.m and ask him nicely, he may be able to help you out.

AE86 is a T series diff. There are differences in axles as has been mentioned above.

ye i thought 86 diff was a t series ?

the 'T' in t-series refers only to the cw/p size.

many Corona ,Celica, TE71, early AE86 are interchangeable as in the whole diff head can be swapped with correct splines to suit axles.

i havn't done the IRS swap as to which components swap over, but i believe it may only be the CW/P and maybe the bearings.

yea but what ratio did you get? I have a few celica and corona heads as spares but the 3.9 ratio most have is useless

and so is the 3.7, except for a donor housing for another ratio. some Coronas also have a different bolt pattern on the pinion flange.

Also if your looking for a cheap better ratio a few live axle carinas have 4.1 ratios which is abit better than 3.7 or 3.9

does anyone know what size the CE70 CW/P is?

i'm trying to get the TE71 going for the weekend and i need the sort the diff out, and a CE70 head is one of the suggestions a wrecker told me over the phone, but i was not aware of any diesil Corrlas of that series.

I believe CE70 is an S code (6.38") but have not confirmed it personally.
