LINK ECU: DIZZY TO COILPACK

Postby FYADUP » Sat Apr 30, 2005 7:01 pm

is it possible to run a link made for a car with a distributor to run on a coil pack. Does this matter? or will it have to be sent away to link to be re-mapped. Or can this be changed just through tuning?

NEED ANSWERS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

You'll need to send it back to link for them to reconfigure it. Doesn't cost much.

Not on the LEM3-5 or the Link Plus. All you do is change the Ignition type from "Distributor" to two or "three channel" (LEM).

This does depend on the triggerset and you may wish to consult Link as to wither your PROMS will support DLI. If your triggerset won't cut the mustard (IE its something like a 16 valve bigport) then you'll not only have to have the computer prom changed you'll also have to get yourself something like a DLI "dizzy".

Don't forget a dual channel ignitor, and two channel coilpacks. In my instance I was also forced to make up custom leads (I run a WRX coilpack).

I knew the Linkplus was capable of being user set but didn't realise the LEM's were too. Had previouslt thought they had to be sent back to link - thanks Redmist, makes things a bit easier from now on.

I'm running DLI with my Linkplus and a wastedspark setup along with an evo coil pack and new leads.

No problemo Stu.
Good to see another wasted spark Link / 4ag solution. I used the WRX coilpack because its a single unit. Neater solution. But I was also pointed in the EVO coil direction. I understand both are good high output coils.

LEM 4 and 5 may be user changable I dont know as I have not powered up the V4 that we have yet, but the LEM V3 that I have is definatly not. Mine is single coil and there is nothing in the menu's that will allow it to be changed. It will have to be sent back.
The linkplus's are though.

And Mitsi coils are great. They definatly have better output than the std GZE coils.

I stand corrected. The LEM3 may not be user selectable, however the 4 definately is. I have one here, and have kicked up PC Link to confirm it. I see no reason for Link to remove that function from the 5.

Yeah, The V3 isn't PC link compatable either, another reason why i've upgraded.
