help my trueno is starting to backfire why???

I recently purchased a 88 trueno with a silvertop in it and its just started to backfire.the more throttle i give it the bigger it backfires.Any help would be good.

Running rich? Common problem of all silvertops. You are talking about a 20v right?

Unburnt fuel combusts in the exhaust. Is there lots of black smoke coming out of exhaust?

Have you had a motor conversion?

Are you running any aftermarket parts ie exhaust etc?

sure its not just a distributor screwup?

has it done it recently?

if you have water in your dizzy, it will make a hell of a popping noise.

my suggestion, pop out your dizzy cap, check for water, spray some crc in, chuck it back on, if it makes even the slightest difference, and its still happening, get a new dizzy.

i brought my car with a silvertop in it (yes its a 20v).it has a autotech exhaust.I havent seen any smoke cuming out of it.any other questions.thanks 4 the help
