Air conditioning not working on AE101

Postby Dirtbag » Tue May 31, 2005 6:00 pm

I have a feeling that this may have been covered before, but after a search I couldn't uncover anything definitive.

Righto,

Basically, I have a permanent heater, regardless of where I put the temperature knob, or if I have the ac/eco buttons depressed, or if I am circulating from outside, or inside. I hadn't realised it wasn't going as it was the first time I have used the cooling feature in ages, so it could have conked out at any time really.

Thanks for any help

might need regassing?
or it could be clogged up...

I had the oposite in my supra whereas it couldn't blow hot air....it was just clogged up in the end.

The motor that moves the lever inside the heater unit from hot to cold will be not working.

Modern cars also have a flap inside to switch from hot to cold,
otherwise when the heater is on hot and you switch to cold you have to wait for the core to cool down before you get cold air.

In fact quite a lot of modern cars do not even have heater taps.

It seems to be heating it at all times, I was driving around the other day and it was chilly chilly outside, and the air coming in was really really warm, even with a/c and climate control on 21 or what ever ae101s go down 2

ok doesnt sound like a air con fault. it sounds like the flap that determines the air temperature mix is stuck on guideing all the air through the heater core. ae101s have cable type swiches from memory???? if its a cable type check the cable moves when you chnge it from hot to cold. if its electronic it could be either the motor that moves the flap or a faulty temperature selection switch
