Will get some full photo, better quality ones soon. :)

Yea, the 355 kit is really out there! 52 piece kit!

I wouldn't really say its to my taste, but its still a friggen amazing kit!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

RS13 wrote:$&#$% that looks bitchn. I know this sounds ghey, but I still prefer the 355 replica kit on SW20s, to the point where I priced up a full kit, with lights, badges etc.. $7500. Add freight and fitting, paint.. I'd say $15k would be a fair estimate.

Opinions on the 355 kit?

Someone on mr2oc.com wrote:I decided to look at the experts: TRD Japan. Here is what they recommend
for the MR2T, using their Alumi-K wheel. Info is from the All Parts
Catalog, Vol 6:
F: 33mm offset R: 39mm offset
17x7 17x8

The HyperRev wheel matching section lists the same TRD info for the MR2T,with the addition of the following tire sizes:
F: 215/40/17 R: 235/40/17
85 Corolla GT - 08 Blade Master G

Well, to the average joe walking down the street, you're driving a Ferrari 355. Oddly enough, I'd probably go with a n/a SW20, I just for some reason don't like the idea of a ferrari with a bov.. hmm.. I'd imagine a nice, cammy roar would be a lot closer to the real thing?

Plumb back bov... a nice exhaust system + tuned length extractors would give the car a nice growl... but youll never get the v8 scream :(

but i mean, who cares, your not paying anywhere near as much as a 355! BUT you get similar performance! (remember, hairdressers cars)

Yes I went and saw this today, looking very good. 8)
Dont forget to put that lumbering beast on the scales.
You said it felt like it had more downforce at the front, its probably more to do with the extra weight from all of the bog etc.

But yeah. cant wait to see it painted and with suitable rims. 8)

Going without my car for 3 months was bad enough. I can't imagine what another 5 months without it would be like!

Aaah, so I see the 'Daves paintjob took ages' jokes continue. :x

Sorry I didnt notice these comments earlier, I was busy counting the thousands of dollars that I didnt spend on getting my car painted by someone else.

Ones an SW20, Ones a real 355 Ferrari.. Pick the difference.

Let's see;
  • Windscreen curve incorrect
  • Windows wrong shape
  • Rear Quarter light wrong shape
  • Roof line
  • Wheelbase too short
  • Boot too long
  • Front too short
  • Front too high
  • Too much guard above the wheel arches
  • Door cutout too tall and too sharp an angle
  • Lower sill scoop too far forward
  • Front vents wrong
  • Wipers too far recessed
  • Airdam wrong

I could go on but thta's the obvious ones that anyone who knows what a 355 really looks like will see straight away, let alone if they bother to look at the interior, or hear it running

Oh and the number one thing that's wrong with it, and a dead giveaway that it's not a Ferrari, is the Scuderia shields on the side. Road going Ferraris don't have them, they're reserved for race cars only ;)

FFS why do people want to make a perfect good car look like a poor imitation of another one, complete with Ferrari badges, it's just a joke. At least the TRD kit is original 8)

Yeah, and the proportions are all wrong anyway. :?

An SW20 with a 355 kit looks like a caricature of one, rather than a replica. :D

Also, I remember seeing another ferrari that looked a LOT more like an SW20 than a 355 does. Any idea what it was?

Im not too flash with my ferraris, apart from the common ones.

Edit: So unfamiliar infact, that I cant even spell 'Ferrari' correctly.

You mean the 348, strangely enough it shares most of it's panels with the 355, but looks totally different :?

This one's a 348 Challenge racecar and therfore entitled to wear the shields http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/im ... eng-10.jpg

Except that one has had the 355 doors and panels fitted, no cheese graters

Here's what it originally looked like

Dave, you keep hassling the weight, I'll keep hassling the paint

They actually only used about 2 tins of bog all up, which (I was told) have a weight of about 4kg each.

That's looking great Adam... painting it black right?

Can't wait to see it painted with rims. One thing that i don't like is the spoiler... i prefer most cars without spoilers.

Good stuff :)

Yup, black indeed. Dave and I are gonna start a gang for people with black MR2's that have white wheels. 8) Somehow, I think we may end up being the only members haha

Yea, some people like it with, some people like it without. I'm one of the ones that likes it with it. It completes the look for me. Although when you're trying to keep an eye out for any cops behind you on the motorway, it can be a bit of a hassle!
