Ok then, these are on behalf of my flatmate.
He has an RX30 Cressida, currently running an 18R, looking to transplant an 18RG. We've sourced one in a complete car, however it is an 18RGEU, the EFI version of the above obviously.... has another couple of juicy bits as well!
Question 1: Are the EFI variants much different to the carb option - I assume we will require an electric fuel pump as an EFI engine wouldn't come with a mechanical one as per a carb motor - and are there any other major differences that would hinder a twin carb setup being transferred to this motor?
Ouestion 2: W55 vs. W50 gearbox. The W50 is what the RX30 currently has in it, the potential donor car has the W55.... any advantages to be gained by switching to the W55 (apart from strenght) ie. are the gear ratios likely to be shorter etc.
Question 3: This donor car ALSO has an "F" code diff, which to my belief signifies an LSD am I correct? As it has IRS, the complete setup is no use in the RX30 Cressida, BUT can the LSD diffhead etc. be transferred to the Cressida? I can find out the diff in that if necessary!
Question 4: Has anyone reconditioned an 18RG before, and what sort of coin does this command (ballpark figures for parts only please!)
Thanks, I hope someone out there can help!
Richard.
