All,
I need some advice on Toyota Gearboxes.
As some of you know, remember, I am in the process of organising to change the gearbox in my car. Current situation. I have a ST191 Chassis. A Gen 2 3S-GTE out of a ST-185. I currently am using a Manual Gearbox out of a ST-171.
I have a replacement gear box that I got from a wrecker the other week, but I am not 100% sure if it is the correct one or not. Apparently the box is out of a 3S-GE powered ST-202. The reason I am concerned is that the drive shafts on the box are larger than the ones that are on my car currently. I came to this conclusion this weekend as I was going around Pick A Part looking for a Manual ST-202. I found an Auto ST-202, but the drive shafts appear to be the same size as to what I have in my car now.
Question is. Have I been sold the incorrect gearbox, or do I have to find some driveshaft that fit my car and replacement gearbox.
Currently the gearbox is in Whangarei, but I can bring it down next week if there is someone who is willing to have a look at it for me to check that it is the correct one.
Thanks for you help.
Neil
