AE85 To KE70 Front Rotors...

Postby pervert » Thu Sep 22, 2005 11:21 am

Firstly, are AE85 front brakes much bigger than KE70 ones?

Secondly, is it a bolt on swap, or do you need more than just the discs/calipers...???

If you want to do an upgrade, probaly not necessary tho? Use celica struts and brakes, of the R/TA63 variety, skip cressida and corona etc or youll be likely to run into the issues ive had :(

AE85 brakes are bigger than ke70 sedan brakes, but the same size as TE71 and KE70 wagon brakes

celica TA61/TA63 struts with 10 inch vented discs is a straight swap

as long as you use the steering arms off the celica, and use your original top hat and springs

its really piss easy

Thanks, I take it for $200 these things are going to stop me in a $&#$% hurry (even with the standard discs/calipers), and not fade overly easy???

I have quite a problem with bad fade...

Dunno, will tell you when my car is going lol

I bought a set for my 18R-GE KE70 ute, but haven't got it up to cert status yet. A friend used them with standard discs on a 4AGE 20V powered KP Starlet, has been around Pukekohe a few times with no problems. If you still have problems with fade after fitting them look at ducting your brakes.

Hi, I have some MX73 Cressida( same 10inch vented disks are they not?) front struts that i am wanting to put into my ke70.Are you saying all i will need to do is find some TA61/TA63 Carina/Celica steering arms and my original springs and top hats?

No that wont work, celica steering arms give positive camber, then youll need camber plates, then youll need coil overs. Its not as easy a swap as it seems

good pads, but a bit extreme for a standard-ish road car.

can't remember what flavour i fitted (Bendix metal king???), but they were $60 for the fronts. pulls the car up good, don't seem to fade and work good (ish!) when cold. done three seasons of club champs plus 3 full days of rallying and still going strong.

Running the 1155 compound mintex pads for my KE70 ute, its an endurance racing type pad so should suit a bit of towing and the heavy 18RG sitting up front. Remember Pervert is running some large wheels, make a hug difference to braking with all the extra weight on the outer circumference. Probably why he is having such a fading problem.
