ST185 GTFour Rear Axle/Suspension Bushes

Postby BR0Z » Fri Sep 23, 2005 9:31 pm

Hi All

I'm looking for replacement bushes for the Rear hub/axle carrier for my GT Four RC :( . Can the bushes themselves be bought or are they part of the axle carrier assembly?
Is there a Nolethane kit for these bushes< :?
Can anyone offer suggestions & possible costs.

Cheers, Mark

I imagine it's probably a spherical bearing type thing (kinda similar to a tie rod internally). Some places can rebuild them, but some people have been known to replace them with plain urethane or similar bushes, as there isn't much axial movement required, AFAIK

Try Fensport in the UK. IIRC, rear bushes are pretty much the same as the ST205 - just replaced all mine with ones from Fensport.

I went to SAS and asked for something similar in nolathane as you can't get the right ones. They cost from memory about $60

To remove the old ones I suggest a vice and a 5lb bashometer

Nolathane has far less play

Also check your wheel bearing as it could end up cheaper to buy a complete hub from toyota if you need to pay for the services of a workshop press

complete hub + carrier + wheel bearing from Toyota would be big $$. A hub on it's own (just the flange with the wheel studs in it and the part the inner bearing race goes over) will be over $100 retail, wheel bearings are about $150 retail from memory, and the carrier (which is the part you need) would probably more than the two combined.

also the reason there's more "play" in the stock bush is because it's meant to be able to swivel about it's axis.

Thanks ppl :D

Have ordered kit from Stocks which is $141.25+GST for SuperPro polyurethane bushes (8bushes +4Tubes) same as Fensport SuperFlex.
SuperPro are the Australian manufacturer who sell to Fensport.
But Fensport chg 60GBP for a kit per side, then there's shipping on top.

Then the fun will begin to put them in.
