Stupid new seatbelts.

Postby pervert » Fri Nov 04, 2005 4:50 pm

My car has 2x new seatbelts in the front, like a lot of replacement belts I've come across, they lock the mechanism ALL the time and you can't pull them out to put them on, and not just on hills either.

A lot of the time you can't get the passenger side belt on, and this is a bit of an issue...

Is there any way to reduce the sensitivity of the locking mechanism or whatever...in short...is there a fix for this?

first thing id check is do you have the right ones, and are they mounted at the correct angle.

I've just recently got the car, and they were put in by the previous person...

How do I tell if they are the right ones or not?

id be looking to see who the autoliv dealer is in dunedin.
you may need to remove panels and take it in for them to have a look at.

im not an expert on belts, but i do know theres a few toyota ones that look the same but mount on different angles. if the angle is wrong you get that locking that we all hate :x

Its Angow compliancing who do the belts in Dunedin. But personally im not happy with their work, i had to have a new belt installed & had to get whole new clicker assembly too, so different colour to factory, but the bit i hate the most is that the belt locks up all the time, so any slight incline & its locked solid.
Im thinking of taking mine out & loading the new webbing onto the old spool & reinstalling that & seeing how it goes. I know its kinda frowned upon, but hey at least i'll be able to breath around corners & up hills.

Is there anyway to losen the sping inside the tensioner so it doesnt bite so quickly?
