ok i know this is toyspeed = toyotas but my m8 got a GTti and i doubt theres a forums for daihatsu. ok so if any1 knows the best mods or have had any experiences it would be much appreciated.

p.s we mainly wanna know how to raise the boost past boost cut(15psi) cuz these mighty 3 cyclinders have forgies!

extra injectors, slightly retarded timing , fcd.. 20psi no more.. otherwise a aftermarket ecu.

ive had 3, one ran 24-28psi on a drs computer. went nuts.

thanks vhpacer.

um its already got a extra injector.

i was told that a fuel pressure regulator and defender would let higher boost be run. but i have no idea how that would help.

plus aftermarket ecu a bit much at the moment.

They don't have a factory bov, so that's probably why the surge.
GTX turbo's are a good upgrade, fuel cut defender, and up to 20psi boost.
Those mods, with sorted suspension should be good for low 14s.

Fond memories of my honda city turbo.... God tiny cars with big boost are a hoot to drive!

Can do you a fuel cut defender for $160, thats the gizzmo one. Can probly get something else cheaper, but thats the new part price for it. PM me if you want it.

Naa they don't have a BOV Standard..
My mate has one and he love's it.. So far he has run a 14.7 1/4 and the only Mod's were a Apexi Pod Filter, No Cat, 21psi.. He did have a T3 off a GTS25T sitting there to mount up last time was round there :D As well as a Full Exhaust  ..

i would say the fuel cut works off a resistance reading, so with a resistor in the right place it would cost you all of about 50cents to mod.

yes very cool little cars....
the factory ecu has its cut at 16psi..... i ran 15 on mine with no issues. other than we couldnt get the thing to run less than 12!!!

when i had mine i came across an website that had a few guys running 200hp with nothing other than turbo, injector and intercooler upgrade, oh and ecu, but i cant recall if they tricked the ecu or replaced it....

many a vtec suffered a horrible caning from my GTXX :D

nope, 1990 g100 GTxx. as far as i could find out they were a limited run, all black with silver/grey body kit.
had a few different parts from the GTti, bigger C/Vs and supposedly a bigger turbo and different ecu, possible they were a F2 rally homologation car... but i could never find anything concrete to support that.

Only difference between a GTti and a GTxx was the engine code. CB80 vs CB70. No other differences whatsoever anywhere. Turbo, cvs, ecu, everything is identical.

The boost cut is controlled by a voltage reading sent from the map sensor, which also controls fueling. A simple resistor will not do the trick (nor will bleeding the feed to the map sensore  ), you need a few more bits to allow the boost to keep increasing, but the voltage level needs to rise to a fraction before the cut level in order to maintain fueling. An FCD as has been mentioned earlier is the solution for this - although $160 is a lot to pay for something you could build with parts from DSE for under $20.

I always thought the GTxx was lower spec. No options and lightweight.
