20v gearboxes - lsd or not to lsd

Postby Lanius » Fri Dec 02, 2005 4:00 pm

Done a bit of searching, can someone confirm for me please ...

C160 = 6 speed LSD gearbox (20v)
C56 = 5 speed LSD gearbox (20v)

correct?

If changing from the non-lsd 5 speed box to an lsd-equipped 5 speed (or 6 speed) box, what else requires changing other than the box itself? I assume driveshafts etc are all the same? (fingers crossed)

Cheers

So theres different models of C56 now? :(
Do you know how to distinguish between them? I really need to make sure I'm asking for the right parts ...

get a c56 out of a BZ-V, or if ur checking a g-box look into the axle hole... if u can see right though (not a metal pin half way) its LSD... or u can also do the old turn the shafts thing.....
you will have to hunt hard to find a lsd one Id think.... an hope the seller dosnt know its LSD or the value of it....

Make sure you get a box from a similar motor, eg, the C160 off a 6 spd celica will not bolt up to a 4age im guessing, and i wouldn't expect a c56 or c52 out of a starlet to bolt up to a 4age either...
