Fair enough, I've never pulled a T50 apart so I couldn't tell you, GTX box's how ever.... :evil:

Yeah I severly doubt it.

We rebuilt a W5* series box with super strong expensive bearings in an effort to stop destroying them, but it made no difference to the life of them. They still only lasted the same time.

better bearings dont make the gearboxes stronger it just makes it last slightly longer then the usually standard bearings, if you want to make your gear box stronger you get all the gears cryogenicly frozen and get steel selectors shifters made up. ( toyota w series box )

We had a custom gear set made for the W55
and have had brass shifter forks made for the R154.

brass shifter forks for the r154? i thought those gearboxes were bulletproof. i used to have a jza70 supra factory 5spd with r154 and i couldnt break it, the car had a single to4 and gtr intercooler and 16psi boost and the gbox still took all the trashing fine. who did the brass forks would steel be stronger?

lol, I broke my 2k starlet, did a diff etc etc etc.

The R154's have been a problem in that car. It was actually a brand new gearbox thru toyota too.
I dont think it was a hp problem. There is actually two boxes for that car. One is usually in it and one is usually being repaired.

The car is due back this week and is getting a hollenger 6spd seq. fitted like the focus.

Isnt there an issue with one of the input/out put shaft bearings on the 154?
i have pics online but i cant look at em as the hosting is down.
