Definately get a K&N pannel filter. It made a massive difference to my 20V AE101 in the lower RPM ranges.

Pod filters are only any good if you have a cold air box and they sound good aswell. Just get a k&n panel filer and run an extra pipe into the airbox, will make a difference.

This is very debateable.
From my experience a pod filter gives better results than a high flow panel in the factory air box.
Yes you will get even better results if you put the pod in a cold air box. Factory toyota air boxes just dont flow that well. Best flowing pods would be HKS or APEXi. Those cheap wildcat ones from repco are best value for money. They are made by Simota.

i think that anything that is to be debated about airfilter gains is best done with posted dyno sheets

its been proven quite a few times the dyno's that podfilters offer very little or even worse make you lose power on a n/a engine
not to mention the level of fitration is abismal

removeing the factory air box can be the quickest way to give yourself a hole or flatspot
the fastest way to give yourself the illusion of more power is to make a flatspot

I completely agree to vvega,

Has anyone here dyno sheets to prove that Pod filters/Panel filter have any significant gain over OEM filter?
What about exhaust (say just end muffler)?

Just avoid those "stainless" Wildcat filters. I just can't trust a filter that you can see through!

The ones with the inverted bit in the top are made by simota. So there is nothing wrong with them.
The HKS styled foam pods & the see through stainless ones are a bit doggie.

I've talked to plenty of people who have gone from K&N in the factory air box to pods & have noticed an improvement. But like I said a pod in a cold air box would give you the best results.
It would be interesting if NZPC did a article on this subject.

When you say that people have noticed the difference, do you mean measured it? Because measured differences on a dyno are the only differences that count, all the rest is.... talk

I changed from factory airbox to cold airbox with pod, and the only definitive thing I can say is I have lots of induction noise now... which I like. As far as performance goes I have no idea of the difference.

I do know that I have a massive dip in the torque curve between 4700rpm and 5500rpm, which may be caused by the removal of the factory airbox. (I didn't dyno it before the pod install)
