AE101 Levin set-up help please :)

Postby 92GTApex » Tue Dec 13, 2005 11:25 am

Im thinking about getting a sub and amp for my Levin AE101
currently i have:

JVC head deck KD-S785
- 45x4

6.5" Boschmann 3 ways
- Peak Output Power: 200 Watts
- Continuous Output Power: 140 Watts
- Normal Output Power: 70 rms
- Frequency Response: 50 Hz - 20 Khz
- Sound Pressure Level: 92 db 1W/1m
- Nominal Impedance: 4 Ohms

6.25" 3 way rears (not installed yet
- 60W RMS
- WOOFER: 160MM
- INPEDANCE: 4 OHMS
- SEMSITIVITY: 90DB/W (1m)

front and rear speakers are just running off the head deck, i might look at getting another amp for them at some point

I know its not the flashest set up, but im not the biggest music lover around nor the richest, just adding to my car
I like the look of this sub
http://www.parallelimported.co.nz/view.php?item=5735

and am thinking about b uying my mates lanzar vibe 418 amp.
which is rated at 4x100wrms (2x200wrms bridged)

what Im wondering is if that amp and sub are compatible?
if i put one channel of 200w into each voice coil? (is that how it works?)

thanks (im out of my depth when it comes to car audio :P )

Barry - you're best to explain why you advise not to purchase the Lanzar instead of a blanket statement ;)

Dont go with the Lanzar. I had a Vibe258. First it blow my sub for some reason. So got a new sub and now the amp is not working properly. Better getting a decent brand.

this is a low budget setup... total cost is $94.90 so far for head deck and front and rear speakers.
and im prolly going to get the amp 4 $100
So yeah, im not looking at spending thousands 4 the best components and install
